He just can’t stop lying:
Herschel Walker, the Georgie Republican candidate for US Senate, said he has "never denied" the existence of his four children — three of whom he has never publically discussed until recently.
Walker, who is set to face Sen. Raphael Warnock of Georgia in November, said at a Faith and Freedom Coalition conference on Saturday that his children "knew the truth," according to the Associated Press.
"Well, first of all, they knew the truth. You know, I've never denied any of my kids, and I love them more than I love anything," Walker said, per The AP. "And they didn't do anything, which just makes me want to fight harder because I'm tired of people misleading the American people. I'm tired of people misleading my family."
His comments follow reporting by The Daily Beast that Walker — who had previously said he was the father of an only-child and complained about fatherless households — had a 10-year-old son he fathered out of wedlock. The former NFL player later acknowledged that he also has a 13-year-old son and a 20-year-old daughter with two other women, The Daily Beast reported.
Even before his campaign, Walker presented himself as a community-oriented family man. In a 2020 interview on The Charlie Kirk Show, Walker said that the "fatherless home is a major, major problem" in the Black community. He added that he was "like a father" to members of his Wrightsville, Georgia community.
"I took care of a lot of people in my hometown," Walker said. "I had been like a father to some of those kids that may not have had fathers."
Here’s some more context:
The revelation, reported on Thursday by The Daily Beast, is the second this week about children Mr. Walker has fathered but did not publicly disclose. The outlet reported on Tuesday about a 10-year-old son of Mr. Walker’s with whom he is not in contact.
On Wednesday, Mr. Walker’s campaign shared with the news outlet a form that he filled out in 2018 in order for him to be appointed to former President Donald J. Trump’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition. It listed the names of four children: his 22-year-old son Christian, whom Mr. Walker has often talked about on the campaign trail; the 10-year-old son; a 13-year-old child; and an adult daughter.
The Daily Beast withheld the names of the children and their mothers out of privacy concerns.
“I have four children,” Mr. Walker said in a statement to The New York Times. “Three sons and a daughter. They’re not ‘undisclosed’ — they’re my kids. I support them all and love them all. I’ve never denied my children.”
He added: “Saying I hide my children because I don’t discuss them with reporters to win a campaign? That’s outrageous. I can take the heat, that’s politics — but leave my kids alone.”
The Daily Beast’s report on Tuesday about Mr. Walker’s 10-year-old son said that the child’s mother had sued Mr. Walker a year after giving birth to obtain a declaration of paternity and child support, and that the suit lasted until August 2014, when Mr. Walker was ordered to pay child support. The boy, by then more than 2 years old, took Mr. Walker’s last name.
It is unclear how involved Mr. Walker has been in his 13-year-old son and adult daughter’s lives. Asked if Mr. Walker had paid child support for them, his campaign manager, Scott Paradise, said that “he has honored all obligations.”
But of course Walker’s supporters are also huge hypocrites:
Herschel Walker received resounding applause from evangelical Christian activists on Saturday, following revelations he had fathered three children he had not previously discussed publicly.
The half-full room of conference-goers at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s annual gathering in Nashville went wild for Walker — perhaps the most high-profile Republican Senate candidate this cycle running in one of the most contested races.
In an onstage interview with Walker, Faith & Freedom founder Ralph Reed addressed the recent barrage of news stories by saying “Democrats and the media” were “firing artillery” at the candidate. Walker, in turn, said he loves and has never “denied” any of his children, before accusing unnamed forces of trying to mislead his family members.
“They didn’t do anything but make me want to fight harder, because I’m tired of people misleading the American people,” Walker said. “I’m tired of people misleading my family.”
The only person who has been misleading the American people about Herschel Walker’s family has been Herschel Walker. He had to disclose that for his appointment to Trump’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition but he has stated on the campaign that Christian Walker is his only son. He’s only now publicly acknowledging his other children because he was caught lying.
