There was a FedEx package on my front porch when I got home Monday. Most of you know it was my birthday, so the assumption was a gift had arrived. I’ll describe the contents after the pause.
Morning Open Thread is a daily, copyrighted from a host of editors and guest writers. We support our community, invite and share ideas and encourage thoughtful, respectful dialogue in an open forum.
This is a post where you can come to share what’s on your mind and stay for the conversation (and often music offered). The diarist is on independent time (a schedule of their own) and gets to take a nap when he or she needs (or may wander off and show up later).
Just to let you know, it’s a feature, not a bug.

The return address was familiar. My youngest brother’s handwriting stated the location of his home. From the size and weight of the box, there was no guessing what was inside.
There were two XXL hooded sweatshirts (that I’d only wear to a family barbeque) and a thick letter inside. I dove into the words (the true treasure of the parcel).
There was the typical news of births and deaths (RIP Uncle Alton) (and Happy Birthday Sean). The best story was about a goat that invaded a family night party. A neighbor’s pet (and alternative milk producer) escaped it’s corral and wandered into my brother’s party. Seems the goat liked beer, hamburgers and menthol cigarettes too much.
The goat was returned the next morning suffering a hangover and a note of apology from my family.
Here is the back of one of the “hoodies”.
I am certain that each of you have gotten a special gift (with or without an explanation) that surprised you. I just hope the goat that visited your party had fun.
