Just a short notice that I will also be attending another American Dream House Party tomorrow.
I announced to the attendees at tonight's event that I was present to blog the event for DailyKos.com, and will do so tomorrow also.
So this diary will be number one in a series, with two and three being the in-depth coverage (with pictures!) from each of the two events.
My thoughts from tonight's meeting...
Why do democrats and progressives have to continually re-invent the wheel?
Democracy for America.com wrote the book on how to use Meetups to galvanize local people - and to stick to the agenda during those meetings. MoveOn.org has not learned enough from DFA yet, so far as I can tell.
The attendees were a delightful variety of races, ethnicities and social status.
The meeting I attended tonight had (at the beginning) 26 plus the 2 hosts. A few people left early (including myself, as I had to get my 70 year-old mother home so that she could take her insulin).
I took some pictures (but with my smart phone with no flash), so I'll see a bit later how they turned out, and whether or not they're usable.
My optimism about the value of these meetings is tempered by my experience during the Howard Dean campaign, and the Meetups that brought a large number of people to the online community, including here to DKos, back in 2003 & 2004.
Color me surprised - when I announced my DKos affiliation someone asked me, "Are you "Angie in WA State on the DailyKos?"
So, I'll be looking to read other reports tonight and tomorrow from your experiences in the American Dream House Parties.
Until next time, adios mis amigos!
