More good news from our indefatigable Engineering (Apps and QA) and Product Teams: it is now possible to embed single tweets, independent from any parent tweet.
See the step-by-step process illustrated below.
These are the steps to take:
1. Find and open the tweet menu
2. Choose “embed tweet”
3. Set customization options
4. CHECK HIDE CONVERSATION option and the update button
5. copy the embed code from the single tweet display page
And the final result! Sorry, maybe a little anti-climactic after all those partial views. But, cute woozle, no?
Some positive details worth noting:
- You can view and embed tweets even if you’re not logged in on Twitter, as these screenshots show.
- You can still embed threaded tweets (parent + child). To do so, copy the URL of the child tweet and paste it directly into your story or comment draft.
- You may have noticed that we are completely bypassing the embed tool for both of these processes.
- Your stories and comments created under the old way should still display as originally created.
The only limitation in this process is that there is no preference to set (if you have a Twitter account). You will need to go through these steps every time you want to embed a child tweet without its parent.
Many thanks to the dedicated Daily Kos staff who implemented this change, a true team effort once again. Jason Libsch and elfling in Product; QAMichelle and QAKumar in QA/Engineering; tarynmu18, yiwen, Q, and iterology in Apps/Engineering all contributed.
And of course thanks to site members, Community and Staff alike, for letting us know how much this option would help. Special thanks in this regard to the Editorial, Trending, and Community Contributors teams for their patience and persistence.
We always keep your requests in mind as we work through our site to-do lists. Let us know what you think!
