I wrote and produced a protest folk song, "Democracy, Take My Hand", as my grassroots contribution to the cause. It's available on YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, etc.
I’ve posted the here as well.
I’m a retiree in Florida; the guy singing is young. I hope the song takes on a life of its own. Protest songs of the 60’s are associated with known artists who gained followers by touring. With the Internet and social media, we might establish a new pattern, with the message and music central and circulating. The song does touch on social issues---truth as a core value, the Big Lie, the pandemic response, stacking of the Supreme Court for minority rule, encroaching authoritarianism---issues of importance to a middle America that sees what’s going on but hasn’t quite awakened to the fact they can do something about it!
If you like the message and music and think it might help, please do what you can to promote it. I’ve put the lyrics below, all copyright protected so don’t worry about that. I would be honored if folks pass along the lyrics too.
Democracy, Take My Hand

What good are facts if the deck is stacked
Whispers of conspiracy, secret plots
Egged on by falsehoods, Truth gets whacked
Democracy, we can do better than that
Democracy...authoritarianism is calling...oh-oh-oh
Take my hand…take my hand
What good are elections, don’t like outcomes
Beaten at the polls, losers cry foul
Bruised and battered, democracy is struggling
Don’t we know Trust keeps the Ship afloat
Democracy...authoritarianism is calling...oh-oh-oh
Take my hand…take my hand
What good are global, life-saving efforts
If we flick off science's sound advice
We push back against curbs on our freedoms
But victory won’t save us if we miss the Point
Democracy...authoritarianism is calling...oh-oh-oh
Take my hand…take my hand
What good are victories in Washington
Stealing still ranks as Supremely unfair
Too much crooked winning and off go our freedoms
If there's cracks in the foundation, lets repair
I'm just scared, I'll tell you so
I can see, I can see, what's going on below
Too many problems, not enough solutions
We’re in a logjam, can’t get out
We need democracy and truth to sustain us
And that’s what this is all about. Oh-oh-oh
